Saturday Night @ The Movies: Star Trek: Into Darkness

Saturday Night @ The Movies: Star Trek: Into DarknessI misjudged JJ Abrams. After seeing the Star Trek universe utterly decimated in its first reboot film, Star Trek, I decided that I wanted no part of the director's version of the franchise. Gone were the ethical dilemmas of characters like Jean-Luc Picard. Missing was the under-stated drama and what some refer to as "smart talk." In my opinion, they'd been replaced with flashy graphics and pretty actors. So naturally, I avoided Star Trek: Into Darkness fearing that it was more like its immediate predecessor than other Star Trek films. To be clear, I was wrong.
